Personal Injury Lawyer Arrested After Felony DUI

Updated: Feb 26

He hit and killed a woman before leaving the scene while driving under the influence

A personal injury attorney by the name of Marcos Gonzalez Balboa, 65, was arrested after an investigation revealed he was behind the wheel of a Mercedes Benz that hit and killed a woman in FL.

Investigators said the 65-year-old personal injury attorney had several drinks before he struck Holloway 26 with his car at an intersection and then drove off on Dec. 6 2017. This is another example why finding a pre-screened Los Angeles Personal Injury Attorney is important.

Police reported a piece of the personal injury attorney's Mercedes-Benz was found at the scene. Gonzalez-Balboa was charged with, DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of a crash and tampering with physical evidence.

Gonzalez-Balboa was held on a $145,000 bond before being released on a $75,000 after his attorney argued the bond was too high.

“I do think that the bond is a little bit high, I think a bond of on a $50,000 with home detention is more reasonable to assure his presence in the community,” Gonzalez-Balboa’s attorney said.

The personal injury lawyer further stated “I need to be able to wind down my practice so I can concentrate on this matter. I have clients, and it’s going to be very difficult for me to do that from home,”

According to the police report, Gonzalez-Balboa was at a bar near where the accident occurred and after several drinks, surveillance video showed him “having difficulty walking properly, and that he appeared to stumble as he walked.”

At some point after that, police said he hit and killed the victim with his car and fled the scene. The victim worked at a private art gallery called Park West. Holloway’s family has filed a civil suit and the case is ongoing.
